Summary0000552: Use XRender Glyphs in the X display driver
DescriptionProblems of performance and compatibility, especially with NVidia display drivers have been encountered.

We should render text the way X wants us to do so, using XRender glyphs.
Additional InformationX server crashes have been reported on NVidia display drivers 173.14.25, kernel, geforce fx 5500. Unfortunately new driver don't support that card, so couldn't test with newer driver.

Various problems such as fully opaque text etc. have also been seen in the past.
The latest NVidia driver generally do not suffer from these issues.
